Tarn-et-GaronneTarn-et-Garonne is a department in the region of Midi-Pyrénées in south-west France.  The department was created in 1808 by Napoleon I with territory from neighbouring departments: Lot, Haute-Garonne, Lot-et-Garonne, Gers and Aveyron. Tarn is the sole neighbouring department not used in the creation of Tarn-et-Garonne.

Tarn-et-Garonne is named after the two rivers that pass through the department: “Le Tarn” and “La Garonne”. The department’s fertile valleys and natural slopes are perfect for vineyards and fruit trees. Otherwise garlic and truffles are amongst local gastronomic treats. Typically the architecture of the department is red bricked buildings with red tiled roofs; picturesque villages and towns are found throughout the countryside.
